Koichi Nakamura, L.Ac., O.M.D.
The origins of Nakamura Acupuncture began a half century ago when Koichi Nakamura embarked on his journey towards becoming a master acupuncturist.
Born and raised in Hokkaido, Japan, Koichi graduated from world the world-renowned Toyo Shinkyu College of Oriental Medicine. Licensed in both acupuncture and shiatsu massage, Koichi continued his training by apprenticing under his master, Sensei Okada, who was considered to be the preeminent acupuncturist in Japan.
Koichi moved his family to the United States in 1974 and settled in San Diego in 1978. With over 50 years of experience practicing Japanese acupuncture and shiatsu massage, Koichi has successfully treated over ten thousand patients. Recognized as the best acupuncturist in San Diego, Koichi is regularly referred to by nurses, physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, and other medical professionals.
Hiroyuki Nakamura is a second-generation Japanese acupuncturist, successfully serving the Orange County communities of Westminster, Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Costa Mesa, and Seal Beach since 2005. In addition to his 16 years of clinical experience, Hiroyuki completed a one-year acupuncture internship with his father, Master Acupuncturist Koichi Nakamura.
Hiroyuki received his undergraduate degree from UCLA and completed his formal acupuncture training in Anaheim at South Baylo University, one of the largest and oldest Acupuncture & Asian Medicine institutions in the United States. Prior to becoming an acupuncturist, Hiroyuki worked in the nutritional supplement industry for six years, gaining first-hand knowledge on the manufacture and efficacy of nutritional supplements. Hiroyuki’s specialty in whole food supplements and nutrition education works synergistically with his acupuncture treatments to facilitate the body’s self-healing process.

Setsuko Nakamura, L.Ac.
Setsuko Nakamura is a second-generation Japanese acupuncturist, successfully serving the San Diego communities of Poway, Scripps Ranch, Mira Mesa, Rancho Penasquitos, and Rancho Bernardo since January of 2015. Prior to that, Setsuko completed a 24-month internship between her brother, Hiroyuki Nakamura, and her father, Master Acupuncturist Koichi Nakamura.
Setsuko received her undergraduate degree from SDSU and completed her formal acupuncture training in San Diego at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, one of the leading schools for integrative medicine. Setsuko's inspiration for alternative medicine began when her son suffered a vaccine injury at the age of two. Refusing to lose her son to a lifetime disability, Setsuko successfully recovered him with the help of her father. This experience, along with the growing medical needs of her friends & family, compelled Setsuko to follow in her father's footsteps.
